Stretching 10 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I must admit that I am not the most limber person. In my early years 14 - 28, I was not a big fan of stretching. In fact, my college track coach wasn't either. Well, now it's the only way I manage to start any recreational activity, however, I am still doing the same stretches I learned 30 years ago. I would appreciate suggestions on stretching routines one can do while watching TV, surfing the Internet or riding on planes.

For years I have done hurdlers' stretch or variants on the floor in front of the TV when I had time. My favorite and simplest is just to sit on the floor with legs out in a V in front of me. Just relax and feel the stretch in your back and legs. I like to follow this with laying on my stomach and arching my back by using my elbows to prop up my head and chest. These are great for TV time and you can even be present with others in the room while you do thse!

Bob Anderson authored a book called "Stretching" which has been out there for many years and is considered by some to be the best out there. It has a number of stretches detailed for specific sports activities and also shows you the areas where the stretches focus if you need to focus on a specific area of your body.
